The simple form of a children’s tale with a universal message speaks to all generations regardless of cultural, religious, political, national, ethnic or other contexts. The story of a little boy deals with the universal problem of fitting in. It is a story about a journey between two similar and infinitely different worlds within the same universe, a story of a journey from the world of misconception to a world of knowledge, from a world of inhibition to a world of fearless freedom, from a world of fictitious unhappiness to an imaginary world of happiness.

CircuitOn a small planet, caught up in their own little private universe, the inhabitants perform their poetically surreal actions, which repeat themselves in an endless loop. That they are all part of a complex little ecosystem which can only function if each of them plays his or her role, is something they are unaware of.

Love He Said1973, San Francisco. Charles Bukowski, underground poet and punk ahead of his time, reads his poem LOVE in front of a wild audience who came to listen to the trash poet’s provocations. But that day, instead of the punk, they found a broken man hungry for love.

Mermaids And RhinosEight-year-old Tilda’s memories of her family as surrealistic visions come into life: the circus member ex-mermaid grandmother, the erotically overheated mother and the disappeared father whose broken heart, anger and jealousy manifest as a rhino. The acts of present and the past are in constant metamorphoses and transformation. The characters overstep their own and the surrounding world’s physical borders. Tilda’s life is full of grotesque, bizarre characters hungry for love. The atmosphere of wistfulness, desire, passion and sorrow frame the story.

The RoundThe afghan traffic cop Ali is standing at the intersection directing the traffic. Now he is dancing on his post like a ballet performance but still with solemn countenances. He has everything under clear control until foreign soldiers replace him by a modern traffic light. But that does not fit Ali at all. A power struggle starts between Ali and the traffic light. While Ali is trying to handle the steel monster, he becomes trouble with the Taliban. The chaos begins and society is divided.

6. Honk / Vietnam / Triet Le / 2017 / 02’54”

HonkSatirical animation about abusive honking in Vietnam. The film depicts motorists and drivers using their voices to honk to run pass each other and the humorous consequences which follow.

MAGIMAGI is a personal one-shot animation film expressing the artistic pursuit and energy of a 2D animator, created by using straight-ahead animation techniques through the medium of paper animation in three abstract stages: rigidity, malleability and epiphany.

8. Am I Oright / Taiwan / Yen Lian Chen / 2017 / 04’07”

Am I OrightThe basic performance of the experimental animation, “AM I ORIGHT”, is based on sounds. The sounds which were recorded, mixed and edited, were used as the basic performance of the animation creation. To indicate the author’s actual experience of getting lost, growing, and transforming in the process of the creation journey.
