Skopje, December 22nd, 2019 – The Spanish film “The last song” by the author Borja Guerrero Parapar won the Golden Brick for the best animated film of the ninth edition of Animax Skopje Fest. The UK film “Good Intentions” byAnna Mantzaris won the second prize (Silver Brick), and the Bronze Brick was won by the Japanese film “Castle” by Ryotaro Miyajima.
Special jury award was given to theCzech film “Daughter” by Daria Kashcheeva. Honorable mentions were given to the german film “Love Me, Fear Me” by Veronica Solomon, the UK/Portuguese film “(In)Dividual” by Beatriz Bagulho, and the UK film “Almost There” by Nelly Michenaud.
The children’s audience voted the film “Little Grey Wolfy. Summer Party” from Norway by the author Natalia Malykhina for the best children’s movie of the ninth edition of Animax.
The awards were decided by the international jury consisting of Radostina Neykova (Bulgaria), Fernando Galrito (Portugal) and Goran Trifunovski (Macedonia).
During the three festival days of Animax Skopje Fest, 40 short animated films and 10 animated films for children in official competition were screened. They were selected from 1,171 submitted animation films, mostly from France, but also from Germany, UK, Spain, Russia, Brazil and others.
During the festival, one workshops for children were held titled “Chew and Animate”.
The event was held from the 20th to 22nd of December under the motto “Part-to-whole” at Cinematheque of Macedonia.
Animax Skopje Fest is organized by the production house Auripimment, in cooperation with the film school Tintiri-Miniti in Skopje, supported by the Agency for Film of the Republic of Macedonia and the City of Skopje, and in cooperation with the Cinematheque of Macedonia.
Animax Skopje Fest is the first and only festival of animated film in Macedonia. The goal of the festival is raising and building a culture in terms of making animated films for adults and children, who present various aspects of everyday life.
