“Part-to-whole” – 47 animated films on the ninth Animax Skopje Fest

Under the motto “Part-to-whole”,┬áthe ninth edition of the international animated film festival Animax Skopje Fest will feature 39 animated films in the official program and 8 animated films intended for children’s audiences.

The event will take place from 20th to 22nd of December in the Cinematheque of Macedonia.

The movies in the official competition have been selected from a record number of animations, most from France, England, Germany, Spain, Russia, Brazil and others.

This year’s jury is made up of Portuguese animator Fernando Garlito, Bulgarian animator Radostina Neykova and Macedonian artist Goran Trifunovski.

Many of the films competing for the Golden Brick are winners of prestigious awards and winners of A-category film festivals.

The screenings of the films from the official program of the festival will begin at 20:00h.

The screenings of the children’s films will take place on 21st and 22nd of December (Saturday and Sunday) starting at 14.00 and 16.00 on Saturday and 12.00 on Sunday. The audience will have the opportunity to vote for the best children’s movie and choose the winner. The screenings for children are free.

Until It Turns Black

One animation workshop intended for children will be organized within the festival – “Chew and Animate”. Under the guidance of experienced educators and animators, group of children will┬ámake a cartoon in the technique of stop animation with unusual material – “Chunga Lunga” chewing gum.

Animax Skopje Fest is organized by the production house Auripimment, in cooperation with the film school Tintiri-Miniti in Skopje, supported by the Agency for Film of the Republic of Macedonia and the City of Skopje, and in cooperation with the Cinematheque of Macedonia.

Animax Skopje Fest is the first and only festival of animated film in Macedonia. The goal of the festival is raising and building a culture in terms of making animated films for adults and children, who present various aspects of everyday life.
