Skopje, December 2nd, 2018 – The Danish film “Nothing Happens” by the author Michelle Cranot won the Golden Brick for the best animated film of the eight edition of Animax Skopje Fest. The Belgian film “Wildebeest” by Nicolas Keppens and Matthias Phlips won the second prize (Silver Brick), and the Bronze Brick was won by the Estonian film “Muteum” by Aggie Pak Yee Lee.
Special awards were given to the Macedonian film “The Monk” by Zharko Ivanov and the Bulgarian film “Ugly Fairy Tale” by Radostina Neykova for its animation technique.
The children’s audience voted the film “Geno” from Georgia by the author Dato Kiknavelize for the best children’s movie of the eight edition of Animax.
The awards were decided by the international jury consisting of Ana Nedeljković (Serbia), Prof.Dr. Nadezhda Marinchevska (Bulgaria) and Goce Cvetanovski (Macedonia).
During the four festival days of Animax Skopje Fest, 50 short animated films and 12 animated films for children in official competition were screened. They were selected from 3,234 submitted animation films from 83 countries around the world, mostly from the United States, England and France, but also from Germany, India, Iran, Spain, Russia, Brazil and others.
During the festival, two workshops for children were held titled “Two people are arguing, everybody loses” and “Good, bad, ugly or beautiful, they’re all characters”. Around 100 kids took participation in the workshops.
The event was held from the 29th of November to 2nd of December under the motto “Not whenever. Forever” at Cinematheque of Macedonia.
Animax Skopje Fest is organized by the production house Auripimment, in cooperation with the film school Tintiri-Miniti in Skopje, supported by the Agency for Film of the Republic of Macedonia and the City of Skopje, and in cooperation with the Cinematheque of Macedonia.
Animax Skopje Fest is the first and only festival of animated film in Macedonia. The goal of the festival is raising and building a culture in terms of making animated films for adults and children, who present various aspects of everyday life.
